Little India Tooting Tour, Saturday 21 October

25.00

Dipa's tour of Tooting takes in the sights and sounds of the Indian community including visiting the oldest Indian grocery stores and restaurants in London.

Dipa grew up in the area and is fascinated by the changes in the area over the last twenty years.  You will have the chance to ask Dipa questions and find out more about the community, the culture and the predominant religions in the area.  It's great time to see how the  local Hindu community is preparing for the major festival of Diwali.

Our tour takes place on the final day of the festival of lights - Diwali!

Taste, smell and feel the flavours, colours and fabrics that make tooting so vibrant. Most importantly, meet local residents and listen to their stories of refuge, community and integration into the area that has built on the history of Tooting.

Stops along the way include:

  • Pooja's snack shop
  • Khalsa Temple
  • Patel brothers - pots, pans, and religious artifacts
  • Tooting Market
  • GuruKirpa Fabrics (Punjabi fabrics)
  • Aradhana Heritage (Indian fabrics)
