Local Peace Talks is a grass-roots women-led organisation set up in late 2023 in London as a response to growing divisions across our communities arising from the war in the Middle East.

It is a compassion-led project for people of all faiths and none to come together in empathy for all suffering, and in hope for peace.

We organise walks, talks and events.

The PEACE DOVE PROJECT was launched in January 2026. The idea was to make strings of doves to hang in windows to bring hope instead of division.

Doves strings are easy to make and require few materials. The idea has taken off with strings of doves appearing in shops and homes all over the UK.

Share your photos with us at local.peacetalks@gmail.com and they will appear in the gallery below.

Do you knit? We have a pattern for making a dove just like our mascot Paloma the dove (see in the gallery below). So far she is a one-off - but would love some more dove friends. Let us know if you would like to have a go at knitting another, and we can share the pattern with you.
