Introducing Our Guides

Tony grew up in London and has an Italian mum and a Bengali dad. His grandparents lived on Brick Lane in East London and he spent happy hours with them visiting Bengali owned sweet shops and cafes in the area. He is an actor and lives in West London.

Manju's parents came from South India and settled in East Ham. Manju works in education and community development and loves food! She has lived abroad including several years in Iceland and has settled in North London.

Mukti comes from India and is a highly qualified kathak dancer. She came to London to complete her training at the Bhavan Institute and performs regularly all over the world.  She lives in North London with her husband (a talented tabla musician) and her young daughter.

Melisa came from Turkey to London to further her career as a dancer.  She is a professional belly dancer and is knowledgeable in the history and cultural significance of the art form.  She loves travel and works all over the world.  

Saori is a professional Japanese calligrapher and came to live in London from Japan around ten years ago. She now lives in Swiss Cottage.  She trained in the traditional artform in Japan and enjoys sharing her craft with other people through workshops and exhibitions.

Caroline is one of the cofounders of SharedCity and has a Jewish background.  She has lived in London all her life and can trace her family roots back to the eighteenth century Jewish East End. 

Nidhi is one of the cofounders of SharedCity and came to live in England as a child because her father was relocated for work.  She loves travelling, food and works as an engineer.

Margarida comes from Lisbon and moved to London two years ago. She trained as a tour guide in Copenhagen and lived in Madrid for many years.  

Claudia is from Sao Paolo in Brazil and came to live in London as a language student - and fell in love with her host! She loves Brazilian music and food. She lives in South London with her family.

Deborah is one of the cofounders of SharedCity and grew up in North London with an Italian mum and an Indian dad.  She speaks Italian and French and is a teacher, actor and writer.
